Orbit TV 0.94.0: PPV Sunday on Ring X

A separate, Ring X-only capability. No other channel changes.

What changed

  • ChannelProgramming.channelFilms: films a series channel carries in an event, read with the exact film matcher from 0.90.0 (title, year, IMDb ID). Only Ring X has any. Missing or unplayable events are logged ("film=...") and skipped, never substituted.
  • Two opt-in DayPart flags, used only by PPV Sunday: once (one programme starts from the event a night; afterwards the window goes to the usual block) and onTime (in the last 90 minutes before the appointment, the next show in turn that leaves it on time goes first: ending between 19:00 and 19:20, or leaving a gap another show closes; failing that, something that ends inside the event's hour so the night isn't missed). Nothing is cut and committed plans are untouched.
  • A series channel's plan now keeps the start times of the films it plays (filmShown), so "once" survives restarts. Series-only channels are unaffected.
  • The event: Sunday 19:00 to 20:00, one event, running to its natural end. Every event airs once before any repeats (the existing finish-together rotation, in list order), saved in the channel's cursor.

The list

52 events (docs/briefs/ppv-sunday-list-2026-11-03.json): 18 WWF/WWE, 9 WCW, 7 ECW, 6 AEW, 4 NWA, 3 NJPW, 3 TNA/Impact, 2 ROH, spaced evenly by promotion, with older and newer events alternating within each promotion, never the same promotion two Sundays running. All 52 resolve to exactly one event in the catalogue, with the IMDb ID matching where the library has one (PpvSundayTest). Playability is checked by the box when it first reads the list; any event that doesn't play is skipped and reported for a replacement.

Tests and replay

  • PpvSundayTest: identities of all 52; one event each Sunday starting 19:00 to 19:20 and played whole; list-order rotation across a save and reload; no events means an ordinary Sunday with no gap; events never outside their window; the shows fitted before the event vary; only Ring X carries films. All 358 tests pass, including the unchanged plan fingerprints. Lint passed.
  • Twelve weeks from the box's real files (Ring X's real shows) with the events at their catalogue runtimes: committed plans unchanged, no gaps, no fallbacks; 11 PPVs, one each Sunday after the booked week, in list order, no repeats. Ten started between 19:02 and 19:18; one at 19:38, when no show in turn could close the gap. Events ran to their natural ends, the latest finishing at 00:52 (NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 11). Shows chosen to lead in varied: WWE Main Event three times, Heat, Prime Time Wrestling, Clash of the Champions and ECW Hardcore TV once each.

Rollback

Remove PpvSunday from Ring X's channelFilms (and the event); Sunday evening returns to the vault. Nothing else depends on it.

Not installed.

Installed, and a fault found (3 November 2026, about 16:15)

0.94.0 was installed with Paul's OK while the box was on its screensaver; Orbit opened to plan, then went back to the home screen. Booked plans unchanged. But Ring X didn't read its events: its pool signature left the event list out (an operator-precedence slip: the films part only joined the signature when a channel also carried a series). So the box kept Ring X's old pool and PPV Sunday is inactive. Nothing aired differently.

0.94.1

The signature fix, with a test that Ring X's signature includes its events and After Dark's is unchanged (so After Dark doesn't re-read). Nothing else differs. 359 tests pass, lint passes. Waiting for Paul's OK to install.

0.94.1 installed and checked (3 November 2026, about 16:30, with Paul's OK)

Verified on the box:

  • Ring X re-read its pool: 37 series plus 51 of the 52 events (238 requests, 47 seconds). Every one of the 51 is the intended event (titles, years and IMDb IDs checked against the catalogue; none substituted). Runtimes 117 to 350 minutes.
  • One event is unplayable on this box and was skipped, as designed: NWA Starrcade '86: The Night of The Sky-Walkers ("can't play here"). Proposed replacement for Paul's approval: NWA Starrcade '87: Chi-Town Heat! (147 min) or NWA: Starrcade '85 - The Gathering (172 min), both in the library; playability is confirmed only when the box reads them.
  • Booked plans unchanged across every channel (9,286 programmes kept from before the install).

Waiting for real broadcasts:

  • Ring X's committed plan runs to about 10 November, so the first PPV Sunday is planned around 9 November for Sunday 15 November. Its lead-in and 19:00 to 19:20 start, the single PPV, and its natural finish can be checked once that week is committed, and seen on air on the 15th.
  • Rotation across real Sundays and restarts (tested and replayed, not yet seen over several real weeks).
  • Playback of each event file in full (the box's decoder check passed for 51; actual playback of the long events, including past midnight, waits for broadcast).

0.94.2

Paul chose NWA Starrcade '87: Chi-Town Heat! (147 min, one copy in the library) to replace the unplayable Starrcade '86, at the same place in the rotation (week 33). Nothing else differs. All tests and lint pass. Waiting for Paul's OK to install; the box confirms it plays when it reads the list.
